InfoComm 2016 is coming to Las Vegas in June and we’ve got the agenda for the largest audiovisual event of the year. InfoComm 2016 will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center and will host more than 950 AV exhibitors, thousands of products, and 40,000 attendees from 108+ countries.
In addition to the CTS certification courses, exciting tech demos, and AV Arcade, one of the highlights for many who attend InfoComm 2016 will be the Tech Tours. These are guided experiences that will take you on an in-person adventure through the intricate, world class, over-the-top AV productions that take place every day in Las Vegas.
Here’s a rundown of the Tech Tours that are offered at InfoComm 2016. The dynamic atmosphere of Las Vegas was built on AV innovation in lights and sounds, and the opportunity to see up close how this comes together is not to be missed.
Live, Loud and Local Las Vegas
This first Tech Tour also doubles as a networking event. Experience firsthand the AV that powers one of the brightest and hottest spots in Las Vegas—The Cosmopolitan. The Cosmopolitan is one of the newer hotels in Las Vegas, and has an urban, upscale vibe. See how the latest AV technology is used to create this atmosphere at the Cosmopolitan.

The tour will start with the inside scoop from the venue's tech team, who will take you on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of these key AV features:
- Lobby Columns
- Race & Sports Book
- Chelsea Theatre
- Exterior Signage – Marquee
- 7078 CueLight & Penthouse
- West Tower Penthouses
The evening will end with drinks and networking at the Chandelier Bar.
Audiovisual at UNLV
This Tech Tour is a complete departure from the applications described above for the Cosmopolitan. See how AV is shaping the future of education and how students interact with the facilities where they learn. The tour will explore the state-of-the-art technology and connected classrooms at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The tour will cover the Beverly Rogers Literature and Law Building, which hosts collaboration stations, as well as a digital signage network intended to connect the entire student body. The Lied Library has classrooms optimized for computer-based learning, with powerful instructor stations allowing annotation, multiple inputs, video routing, and control.
The tour will also showcase a cutting-edge modular space that can transform from students independently controlling the display at any one of ten pods to the instructor sending video to every display in the room. The team behind these spaces will be available to answer questions about design, integration, and maintenance.
The Westgate Sportsbook
They obviously aren’t going to give away all their secrets, but the Tech Tour at the Westgate Sports Book is a fabulous display of audiovisual technology. It is the largest in Las Vegas and just received a complete facelift. The highlight is an immersive video wall that will draw you in and make you want to stare at it for hours. The technicians who built and maintain it will take you through this state-of-the art system.
Cirque du Soleil's LOVE
This InfoComm2016 Tech Tour will explore the state-of-the-art theater designed and built for Cirque du Soleil's LOVE. This world-class facility features the spectacular AV cocktail of automation, lighting, and other visual features that Cirque du Soleil uses to dazzle its audiences. However, the audio component to this show does not take backstage to the visual for a moment. The Beatles' music was digitally remastered for this show in order to create a unique sound reinforcement system to ensure that each audience member experiences every note equally. This show is a solid representation of AV creativity, innovation, and quality.

Blue Man Group
This long-standing show has remained popular for so many years for a very good reason–it stimulates the senses and excites audiences. This InfoComm Tech Tour includes a ticket to the Blue Man Group show at the Luxor. Participants will have a 30-minute Q&A session with the Blue Man Group cast and technical crew. This is followed by a sound check and pre-show team meeting. It is a wonderful chance to see how the elements of the backstage AV implementation come to life on stage during the performance.
Las Vegas serves as a showcase for some of the finest and most creative audiovisual applications in the world. The InfoComm 2016 Tech Tours are a perfect way to learn from the masters and see these ideas come to life.
You will also get to experience some of the best shows, hotels, and casinos along the way. InfoComm Tech Tours are definitely much more fun than your average conference classroom!
